Personalized Educational Services

Personalized Learning

When tutoring primary and secondary school students, I first meet the student's family to introduce myself and the learning environment I create in my home.

I meet my students on a one-to-one basis. I assess the learning level of my student and prepare individualized learning opportunities to support his or her potential.

During the tutoring sessions, I use discussion, worksheets, hands-on white board demonstrations and on-going feedback to achieve measurable results.

The most important aspect of my tutoring methodology is building a caring relationship with my students to foster their love of learning.

My background

I offer curriculum and professional development support to colleges, universities, business workers, educators and students. I design professional development initiatives and academic curricula to include participants’ lived experiences, which have potential for insight into improved practice and worker satisfaction. I was raised in Montréal, Québec, Canada and completed my Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Psychology, at Concordia University, Montréal. I hold a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Montréal and a Master of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto. My research focus was Curriculum/Measurement and Evaluation of Computer Applications. I obtained my PhD from OISE, University of Toronto, Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning and was awarded the Outstanding Dissertation Award by the American Educational Research Association (AERA), Narrative and Research Special Interest Group (New York, March 2008).

My Experience

I taught in Montréal Elementary and Secondary Schools and, in 1982 re-located to Toronto leaving the position of Development Coordinator at Concordia University. In Toronto, I assumed a position at Humber College where I worked for 9 years as both a staff and faculty member within the Business Division. My self-employment has led to opportunities for the design, development and delivery of college and university program curricula, faculty observation review processes and professional development seminars. My research interests include Curriculum Studies, Leadership and Professional Practice, Teaching and Learning, Professional Development, Narrative Inquiry, Business and Society, Needs Assessment and Evaluation, Workplace Discourse and Educational Tutoring.
I have held a faculty position at Ryerson University (Administration and Information Management), Brock University (Faculty of Education) and was Educational Support Specialist at Maxwell College in Belleville, Ontario. In this capacity, I led the curriculum development component of the Dental Hygiene accreditation process. Additionally, I have acted as Faculty Advisor to Nipissing University Education students during their practicums.

My Services

I provide private tutoring in my home in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada to help elementary, high school, college and university students achieve success.
In-person learning is my preference but, in some circumstances, I will consider online tutoring sessions.
I also work with adult learners who wish to improve their Mathematics, English Language and other academic skills.

Please contact me for further information. I welcome the opportunity to assist you in your learning journey.
